Caramel Apple Slices

These caramel apple slices hit that sweet spot between treats and fall desserts 🍎✨ They’re easier to eat, fun to decorate, and bring back all that nostalgic cuteness from eating caramel apples as kids! Set them out for a fall party, Friendsgiving, or cozy family night!

Supplies & Ingredients
– Firm, crisp apples (Granny Smith for tart, Honeycrisp for sweet)
– Popsicle or lollipop sticks
– Melted caramel and/or melted chocolate
– Small bowls for toppings
– Toppings of choice (see what I used in the INSTRUCTIONS section)
– Parchment Paper Sheets (don’t use wax paper)
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. SLICE THE APPLES. Cut apples into circular slices (cutting from top to bottom helps keep the round shape).
2. VERY IMPORTANT: Pat each slice dry with a paper towel or clean cloth to remove moisture…as dry as you can. This helps the coating stick better AND helps prevent things from slipping off as you go.
3. INSERT THE STICKS. Cut a small slit into the bottom of each slice and insert a popsicle stick securely. Lay out parchment paper to work on.
4. ADD THE COATING. Dip or spread a thin layer of caramel or melted chocolate onto each slice. Tip: Apply the coating lightly on the side that will rest on parchment paper to avoid sticking.
5. ADD TOPPINGS. Decorate with your favorite toppings! Here’s what I used this round:
– Dirt & Worms (gummy worms + crushed Oreos)
– Cookies & Cream (crushed chocolate cookies + white chocolate drizzle)
– Candy & Sprinkles (mini M&Ms + sprinkles)
– Smiley Face (candy eyes + small candy for smile)
– Turtle (caramel + chopped pecans + chocolate drizzle)
– Classic (just caramel)
– Heath Bar (crushed Heath bar + chocolate chips)
6. COOL, CHILL & SERVE. Give the apples a bit to cool at room temp, and then chill to really let the coating set and so that it easily lifts off the parchment. Keep them refrigerated until serving to delay melting. Serve on a chilled stone board for easy cleanup and a cozy fall vibe. ESPECIALLY IF THE CARAMEL COATING IS DIRECTLY IN CONTACT WITH THE APPLE, it will want to start falling off pretty quickly…so I recommend making those the day of and serving pretty quickly!
Tips for Success
– Make them the same day you plan to serve — caramel can drip over time. I sometimes like to keep the apples in a silicone circular mold to help keep the caramel in place better until serving!
– Caramel by itself directly on the apples is especially prone to slippage. Adding nuts and other texture really helps. Applying chocolate and drizzling the caramel is another option too!
– Pat dry thoroughly. Extra moisture prevents the coating from sticking.
– Cool before refrigerating. Let them sit about 30 minutes before chilling to reduce condensation.
– Chocolate is more forgiving. It holds up better than pure caramel for longer storage.
These caramel apple slices are a fun twist on the classic fall treat — simple, nostalgic, and easy to make with the family. They’re just the right size for parties or cozy nights in.
