DIY Felt Peppermints
Here are the felt peppermints I made for my reversible Thanksgiving pie and Christmas peppermint garland! If you want to check out the written tutorial for the full garland, click here. MATERIALS
– White felt sheets
– Red felt sheets
– Scissors
– Hot glue gun and glue sticks
– Paper (for creating your swirl template)
– Straight pins (to hold the paper template to the felt while cutting)
INSTRUCTIONS
1. MAKE A PAPER TEMPLATE
Start by creating a **paper template** for the red swirl sections of your peppermint. You can either create your own or download the one I made here.
2. CUT THE RED SWIRLS
Pin your paper template to a sheet of **red felt** and carefully cut along the swirl outlines.
3. PREPARE THE WHITE BASE
Cut **white felt circles** to place behind your red swirl shapes. These will be the base of your peppermints. If you’re making a reversible garland, make sure your white circles match the size of your garland base.
4. ASSEMBLE THE PEPPERMINTS
Glue the red swirl pieces evenly onto the white felt circles.
If you’re making double-sided peppermints, repeat the process for the back side.
For a cleaner finish, glue the red pieces first and let them dry flat before trimming any edges.
5. OPTIONAL EDGES OR DETAILS
You can add a thin **white felt border** around the edges or even some **thin plastic** tied at the ends for a wrapped candy look
If desired, lightly dust the red felt with **fabric glitter or shimmer paint** for a frosted finish.
TIPS FOR SUCCESS
– **Use a sharp pair of fabric scissors** for clean curves — dull blades can stretch the felt.
– **Keep shapes consistent.** Uniform circles will make your garland look polished.
